 Troy Mills Historical Society

 Troy Mills -

an unincorporated village in Linn County, Iowa

The Troy Mills Historical Society was organized in 1988. Soon after, the last remaining members of the local I.O.O.F bequeathed their beautiful Lodge Hall to the Troy Mills Historical Society to use as a home base for their organization. The Lodge is currently used for fundraising events and temporary displays of local artifacts.

In 1995, Virgil and Irma Chester donated the historic schoolhouse building on main street to the Troy Mills Historical Society. The 1878 Holman School was originally located north of Troy Mills and moved into town before 1929. The Holman School was last used as a dance studio by the Troy Arts Program.

In the coming months, the Holman Schoolhouse will be used as a museum for the permanent display of Troy Mills history and artifacts. We are very excited to begin this project and will be posting more information as the project advances.
